Historique :
Cette demeure seigneuriale, élevée en 1532 par Jean Le Breton, secrétaire d'Etat de François Ier, conserve un donjon du XIVe siècle. Le château a été modernisé à partir de 1754 par son propriétaire Michel-Ange de Castellane, qui a fait construire les communs avec leurs toits à la Mansart. La demeure a été achetée en 1906 par Joachim Carvallo (1869-1936) , fondateur de La Demeure historique, marié à une héritière américaine, Anne Coleman. S'inspirant des textes anciens, Carvallo a fait restaurer les jardins du château, une restitution conjecturale d'un jardin à la française du XVIe siècle qui s'accorde avec les bâtiments. Ces jardins sont divisés en trois étages, avec un potager en bas, un jardin d'ornement constitué de broderies de buis taillés et une terrasse supérieure comportant un jardin d'eau avec cascades et charmilles. Les fontaines et tonnelles du jardin ont été restaurées à partir de 1994.
