Heading up Rue de Lorraine in Beaune (after leaving Patriarche). We would head past the gateway, then head right around the old walls and ramparts. Starting from Boulevard Maréchal Joffre. We would eventually make our way towards the Hôtel-Dieu. Rue Maurice Emmanuel Hotel de Ville Rue de l'Hôtel de ville From the Convent of the Ursulines to the Town Hall The municipal administration, too crowded in the buildings of the Place Monge, acquired the convent of the Ursulines sold as national property on 17 Frimaire Year 2 (December 7, 1793). The Ursuline sisters established in Beaune since 1626 were especially in charge of teaching girls of notable families. On 28 June 1815 a fire destroyed part of the roofs of the building. This fire is at the origin of the many works that give the building the aspect we know. In October 1815 the buildings, located along the street of the present City Hall, are demolished. In 1818 the sculptors Bonnet father and son realize the pediment. In 1824, the narrow street leads to the Hotel de Ville. This street is named after Maurice Emmanuel since 1939. The Museum of Fine Arts was set up on the site of the former Carmelite chapel . This part of the building was completely rebuilt in the 19th century, as were the buildings on the right wing that now house the ballroom. The Hôtel de Ville has been listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments since 1946.
